As of October 2025, Ledger officially rebranded its companion app from Ledger Live to Ledger Wallet. The name change reflects an expanded vision: no longer just a “live” portfolio viewer, the app is now the central hub for true digital ownership – seamlessly pairing with the new Ledger Nano Gen5, Ledger Nano Gen5, Ledger Flex, and Ledger Stax while delivering the smoothest, most secure login experience in the industry.
Logging into Ledger Wallet is deliberately simple yet cryptographically unbreakable. When you first launch the app (desktop or mobile), it prompts you to connect your Ledger device via USB-C, Bluetooth, or – new in 2025 – NFC tap with the Nano Gen5.
The app never asks for your seed phrase. Instead, your hardware wallet provides a genuine device certificate that proves authenticity to Ledger’s secure servers in seconds. No phishing-prone password forms, no recoverable logins – just pure hardware-backed proof that you are you.
Once authenticated, you set an app-specific password (or enable biometric unlock on mobile). This password only protects the app interface; even if someone steals your phone or laptop, they cannot access your private keys or sign transactions without the physical device + PIN.
